Google Maps or GPS usage in your app emulation

As I don’t know what is wrong with my Ubuntu 9.10 I found out that it cause little problem with default GPS position setting.  This issue going to appear as following message in DDMS (under Eclipse) log file. For you it means that developed Google Apps is terminated immediately after its start:

01-08 13:34:36.293: DEBUG/dalvikvm(331): GC freed 11519 objects / 737032 bytes in 92ms
01-08 13:34:36.305: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): java.lang.NullPointerException
01-08 13:34:36.305: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331):     at test.gmaps1.MyPositionOverlay.draw(MyPositionOverlay.java:33)

Solution is following: By having run up your Emulator session use tellnet to send your default Latitude and Longitude co-ordinates.

#telnet localhost 5554
Trying 127.0.0.1…
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is ‘^]’.
Android Console: type ‘help’ for a list of commands
OK
geo fix 51.503171 0.126477
OK

Than run your application again. I expected your application setup is valid. For Google Maps development I’m using Android 2.0 ‘Google APIs’ package.
